Founded in 2015, the start-up has implemented around 100 projects since it was founded, for example for energy suppliers, furniture stores, insurance companies, baby article suppliers and motorsport customers. Wintersteiger already invested in Moonshiner in January 2022, and at the beginning of this year the shares were increased from 36.5 to 72 percent. A purchase price was not mentioned. The remaining 28 percent belong to the Moonshiner management around Rudi Lindenhofer and Fabian Hippmann.

Moonshiner recently had a turnover of 3.3 million euros with 45 employees. Even after the takeover, the company is to appear on the market as an independent digital agency. For Wintersteiger, Moonshiner is to further develop the “MyWintersteiger” customer platform. Machine data, operating and assembly instructions, orders and documents can be viewed on this platform. The Easyrent ski rental and service software is also to be promoted.

According to its own statements, Wintersteiger also intends to push the “pay per use” business model. “The customer does not invest in a new system, but rather pays for the number of ground skis, sawn parquet lamellas per square meter or cleaned bicycles,” Wintersteiger CFO Harold Kostka is quoted as saying in a press release. The Innviertler most recently turned over 223 million euros with 1200 employees.
