Shortly after the opening, at 15,951.07 points, it was hardly changed in percentage terms from its closing price from the previous day. The record high of August stands at 16,030 points.

Investors assume that the Fed will announce the beginning of the end of the billion dollar bond purchases in the evening. The stock markets have got used to the abundant supply of liquidity by the central banks, but the impending withdrawal shouldn’t throw them off track, explained analyst Jochen Stanzl from CMC Markets. Because it is also a sign of economic strength if the Fed were to announce the schedule now. In the end, the crisis was largely over.

The MDax of mid-sized stocks gained 0.43 percent in early trading on Wednesday to 35,315.55 points. The leading Eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 was 0.1 percent higher.
