It all started when Dujovne posted a tweet in which he stated: “The government maintains that the yuan from the swap can be put to any use and that this mechanism has a lower financing cost than that of the IMF.”
That publication generated responses from different officials of Alberto Fernández’s administration, including De Mendiguren, who, citing Dujovne’s tweet, commented: “They want to return the same – or worse – thinking only about the financial speculation that always led us to ruin.”
“Our model, Nicolás, seeks resources to continue supporting the production and work of the Argentines,” said “Vasco” in that post.
Far from ending there, the crossing escalated. To his turn, Dujovne responded laconic: “Dear Vasco, 160% rate in pesos, 50% in dollars. Greetings!”

“Dear Nicolás, do I need to show you the results of your administration again, WITHOUT A PANDEMIC, WITHOUT WAR AND WITHOUT DROUGHT? Fact: in your government the economy FELL IN 3 OF THE 4 YEARS. This administration is GROWING IN 3 OF THE 4 YEARS. Do you want more numbers? Remember”, Shooting.
Finally, De Mendiguren tweeted: “The reality, Nicolás Dujovne: Today the economy is 7% above where you left it. The industry is 15% above. There are 305,000 more Argentine families with private formal employment. Unemployment is at the highest level low in 20 years. Investment is at the highest level in 14 years. Regards!”
Responses from other officials
Among the squad of officials who came out to respond to the macrista economist was also the current Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini.
“I’ll tell you about the use of yuan; this helps you to understand that not everything is timba as you like (which by the way you ended up horrible in that too, with the default of your own debt in local currency, ruining savers and damaging investment financing),” said Tombolini.
Even tougher was the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Juan Jose BahilloWho asked: “Are you never NOT thinking about trading or betting Silver from Argentines in the financial market, Nicolás Dujovne?”.

“We went to China to look for foreign exchange to bet on foreign trade, investments to export more, to deepen bilateral relations. Thus, we are betting on the generation of jobs, betting that producers can produce more, betting on the development of the country Bahillo added.

Thus, we are betting on the generation of jobs, betting that producers can produce more, betting on the development of the country. We are going to strengthen the economy of the country with greater economic stability. That’s what we bet on.

And he completed: “We are going to strengthen the country’s economy with greater economic stability. We are betting on that. Will you ever be able to reverse your priorities and not start thinking about speculation and timba. Will you ever be able to first think about how the majority? Hmm.”
