Burdened by disappointing trade data from China, the Dax fell slightly in the middle of the week. Around noon, the leading German index lost 0.3 percent to 15,937.93 points. The MDax rose by 0.2 percent to 27,141.60 points. The EuroStoxx 50 fell by 0.4 percent.

Rheinmetall shares rose 0.3 percent. The armaments group plans to deliver more tanks and anti-aircraft ammunition to Ukraine this summer. The company said it had received an order from the Federal Ministry of Defense for 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles.

The leaders in the Dax were Eon shares with a plus of 2.2 percent. The President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, wants to grant network operators higher returns on their investments.

Hugo Boss titles jumped 3.9 percent to their highest level in a month at the top of the MDax. UBS issued a recommendation for the shares in the fashion group.

The shares of K+S increased by 2.9 percent due to hopes that potash fertilizer prices would soon rise again. Aurubis shares gained 3.4 percent. Baader Bank upgraded the copper producer’s stock from “Add” to “Buy”. The rally in Morphosys shares is unstoppable: the antibody specialist’s shares gained a further 11 percent and, with a plus of 125 percent since the beginning of the year, reached their highest level since the beginning of 2022. However, there was also a long downturn by the end of 2022. Morphosys is benefiting from the fact that the market believes the cancer drug pelabresib has blockbuster potential, i.e. sales of more than one billion US dollars.
