Brazil included Argentine vehicles in its incentive program for the industry

The vehicles produced in Argentina that comply with the sustainability requirements and auto parts mercosur may join the Incentive program to the industry that governs Brazil thanks to an agreement sealed with that country, Ambassador Daniel Scioli announced this morning.

In this sense, he highlighted that “this consolidates the sale of Peugeot 208 Style and Cronos models produced in Córdoba and Tres de Febrero”, province of Buenos Aires, and results in “more exports, Argentine labor and income of genuine dollars for the country”.

In this way, the Argentine representative referred to provisional measure 1175/2023 of the Brazilian Government that establishes a price discount mechanism promoted by the executive branch to facilitate the purchase of more sustainable vehicles by individuals and companies.

Agreement between Scioli and da Silva

The text signed by the president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was published yesterday in the Official Gazette, equivalent to the Argentine Official Gazette.

The program provides for the reduction in the price of cars, trucks, buses and vans as an incentive for fleet renewalas reported by the Brazilian Senate Agency.

In total, the Brazilian government will allocate R$1.5 billion in tax creditsof which R$500 million will be to stimulate the exchange for less polluting carsR$700 million for trucks and R$300 million for buses and vans.

To make it possible to lower vehicle prices, automakers will receive tax credits to offer a sponsored discount, deducted directly from the final value, between R$2,000 and R$8,000 for automobiles; from R$33,600 to R$80,300 for trucks; and from R$38,000 to R$99,400 in buses and vans.

The criteria to define them will take into account the energy efficiency vehicle, the price of the good and the national content of the components.

In the case of trucks and buses, the buyer must have a vehicle with license with more than 20 years of manufacturing and still send it for recycling.

In the first 15 days after the publication of the measure, the discounted sale will be exclusively for individuals, but this period may be extended up to 60 days due to demand.

Only after that, legal entities will be able to acquire cars.
