Funes de Rioja will seek to renew his mandate as head of the UIA

After two years of management in which he sought to amalgamate the interests of the different internal sectors of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), the president of the Executive Committee, Daniel Funes de Rioja, is preparing to renew his mandate for two more years. As Ámbito was able to find out, there is a majority consensus for the head of the Coordinator of Food Production Companies (COPAL) to continue at the head of the entity until 2025.

It was officially reported that the UIA Board of Directors, which met last Tuesday, convened the Ordinary General Assembly and the Ordinary General Council for June 29, in order to elect the new authorities for the 2023-2025 period. .

Funes de Rioja has an extensive career in the business union, although his work at the UIA has been that of an advisor on labor issues, since he is a business advisory lawyer. 14 years ago he became the president of COPAL and on April 4 he was also re-elected for two years as head of the powerful business entity.

The current head of the manufacturing plant was initially resisted by business sectors linked to the current government. In fact, he was harshly questioned by the current Secretary of Industry, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, but all the industrialists also gave him their support.

During his tenure, Funes de Rioja faced problems such as the pandemic, delays in importing inputs, the cost of energy, taxes, and the extraordinary advance of earnings last year for companies.
