IDB approves disbursement for its development in Argentina

He Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a loan for $35 million intended for Support Program for Knowledge Economy Exports in Argentina. The main objective of this scheme is to support the development of the sector and its international insertionespecially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

According to a statement issued by the ministries of Economy and Science and Technologytogether with National Agency for the Promotion of ResearchTechnological Development and Innovation (R+D+i Agency), this financing will be used over a period of five years.

The Ministry of Science and the R+D+i Agency intend to strengthen the AI ​​ecosystempromote the development of new AI-based applications and address regulatory issues.

Artificial intelligence for the productive sector

As part of this initiative, it will establish a research and development center that will unite capacities with artificial intelligence. This center will provide support to the productive sector to adopt these technologies and will also be in charge of of a related agenda with regulatory aspects.

In addition, there will be three calls: one for technological-productive consortia focused on the application of AI in value chains, and two to strengthen the scientific-technological system in AI.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Daniel Filmushighlighted the importance of this program for the growth and the competitiveness of the sector nationally and internationally. In addition, he highlighted the role of the State in the international expansion of companies and the specialization of human resources.

WhileFernando Peiranopresident of the R+D+i Agency, emphasized that the main objective of the program is to strengthen the university and scientific system in data science and AIas well as developing applications and tools based on this technology for Argentine companies with the aim of increasing exports.

The new IDB disbursement has as main objectives to increase collaboration between the scientific-technological system and the productive sectoras well as strengthen the formation of human capital and contribute to the internationalization of companies.
