The BCRA authorized a Chinese credit card to settle consumptions in the MEP dollar

The BCRA decision allows consumption by non-residents with cards issued abroad to be settled at the value of financial dollars.

The Central Bank (BCRA) authorized UnionPay, Chinese company issuing credit cards, to implement the differential exchange rate (MEP dollar) parto consumption of cards issued abroad in all transactions carried out by its clients in the country.

In this way, UnionPay joins from july to the regulations established by the BCRA, through Communication A7630, which allows those consumptions made by non-residents with cards issued abroad are settled at the value of financial dollars.

The company has already requested the Chamber of Credit and Purchase Cards (ATACYC) to adhere to the Protocol signed in December 2022 by the acquirers and by the processors of the acquirers and issuers of international brands on the calculation, update and application of the Quotation Implicit for Consumption with Foreign Cards, under the requirement of BCRA Communication A7630.
