AFIP disrupted a million-dollar evasion in high-end wines

The Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) dismantled millionaire evasion maneuvers in the marketing and distribution of high-end wines.

The organization led by Carlos Castagneto, in a joint effort with the Federal Police, the Federal Revenue of Brazil and the National Institute of Viticulture (INV) disrupted an alleged organization dedicated to the illegal trade and sale of merchandise that operated in various districts of the country. with the aim of sending it clandestinely to Brazil through border towns in Misiones.

The operations, in which agents from the General Tax Directorate (DGI), the Customs General Directorate (DGA) and the Social Security Resources General Directorate (DGSESO) participated, were carried out in thirty establishments in Misiones, Córdoba, Mendoza and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and also in border states of the neighboring country. As a result of inspection and control tasks, More than 12,500 bottles of high-end wines valued at 65 million pesos were seized.

The mega-operation was articulated in various stages and had the participation of 95 agents of the collecting agency after exhaustive investigations carried out by the specialized areas of the AFIP to analyze traceability in the marketing chain. During the proceedings, DGI personnel interdicted 11,426 bottles of high-end wine that did not have documentary support to justify their origin, with a market value of more than 50 million pesos. Likewise, 20 minutes were drawn up for violations of Law 11,683.

On the other hand, the AFIP carried out personnel surveys in order to verify compliance with pension regulations, detecting various irregularities.

For their part, in customs matters, DGA inspectors carried out a control of the existence of foreign merchandise without its corresponding endorsement and control of international merchandise traffic. As a result of the control tasks, more than a thousand bottles of alcoholic beverages of foreign origin were seized, with a market value of more than 15 million pesos, while 11 infringement reports were issued.

The National Institute of Viticulture (INV) carried out sampling and control of the inventory number of the products to be analyzed later.

These actions carried out by the body led by Carlos Castagneto, are added to various procedures whose objective is to control the traceability of the merchandise in the event of possible omission of taxes in the internal market. In this way, it seeks to increase the perception of risk among operators in the sector.
