Dutchman Hans Böhm new head of Brau Union


Hans Böhm will be the new managing director of Brau Union Österreich, which belongs to Heineken and is based in Linz: the group announced this today, Tuesday. Böhm succeeds Klaus Schörghofer, who will remain in office until September (we reported) and have been at the helm for almost 3.5 years. Böhm takes over on September 1st.

The 51-year-old Böhm has worked for Heineken since 1996: he started in the Netherlands. In 2004 he went to Egypt. In 2009 he returned to the Netherlands, for the past three years he has been responsible for building up the brand portfolio as Managing Director.

Personally, the father of three adult daughters has a strong connection to Austria: he has been spending his holidays here every year for more than 40 years. Böhm says: “I am looking forward to managing the business of Brau Union Österreich from September – after all, it is the proud market leader in Austria, in the country that my family considers a second home.”

Brau Union Österreich sells more than five million hectoliters of beer a year – the group includes brands such as Heineken, Desperados and Sol, the cider brands Strongbow and Stibitzer as well as Gösser, Schwechater, Edelweiss and the alcohol-free Schlossgold as well as brands with strong regional importance such as Zipfer, Puntigamer, Wieselburger, Kaiser, Schladminger, Reininghaus, Villacher and Fohrenburger. 2700 employees work in Austria.
