Less gas in storage – is the supply still secured? According to the Economics Minister, this cannot be assumed in all cases.
Economics Minister Robert Habeck does not believe that the German gas supply will be sufficient in all cases in the coming year. “Should damage happen somewhere, should the amount of energy that Germany consumes increase and not decrease, and above all should East Germany run into a bottleneck, I believe we still lack capacities,” said the Green politician in a government survey in the Bundestag .
Germany will also have less gas available in the coming year than before the Russian war in Ukraine. The storage tanks are approaching levels of 80 percent and he expects a completely different supply situation than was feared in 2022. The capacity is still only about half as large as before. In extreme cases, this can lead to problems.
