More than 39,000 vehicles were patented in June

The number of patented vehicles during June reached 39,407, while that of motorcycles was 33,461, according to the Car Dealership Association of the Argentine Republic (ACARA).

In the case of vehicles, in the interannual comparison, an improvement of 11.2% (35,439) is noted, while compared to last month, sales fell by 1.9% (40,166).

This way, the accumulated in the first six months of the year amounted to 235,100 vehicles, which means 12% up, from the start of the first half of last year (209,964).

The novelties were brought this month by the level of sales of the Peugeot 208, which was the best seller of the month with 4,031 units, and a market share of 10.8%, dethroning Fiat Cronos.

In other words, one out of every ten cars sold in June was a copy of the French brand’s model, although Cronos continues to lead in the annual accumulated.

With this boost in sales of the 208, Peugeot established itself in June as the second best-selling brand.

The first is still Toyota and the podium is completed by Renault.

It should be noted that 64% of the patents are for models of national production, as a result of the stocks against the dollar and the restrictions on imports.

According to the president of ACARA, Sebastian Blessed, the first half of the year ended with positive, double-digit year-over-year growth.

“The causes are multiple, we continue to be one of the most attractive destinations for those seeking to preserve the value of their money. We remain focused on ensuring that those who come to our stores or contact us understand the opportunity that is presented if they adapt to the offer we have”, commented.

And he added: “The ability to match the available models with the purchase intention is the key that explains these good figures, with a projection of 430,000 units by 2023. It is also a wise measure of the Government, the financing available, through the CreAr lines, promoted by the Ministry of Industry at a subsidized rate”.

For his part, the General Secretary of the entity, Ricardo Salomeexpressed: “The effort of the entire value chain, with a production that accompanies the growing supply of national models (64% of the market), is very remarkable and explains these growth numbers.”
