Gazprom subsidiary is suing German banks

The RusKhimAlyans lawsuit is for a total of 31 billion rubles (around 319 million euros), according to documents from the Arbitration Court of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region on Tuesday.

RusKhimAlyans, which is 50 percent owned by the Russian Gazprom group, is suing Deutsche Bank for the payment of more than 22 billion rubles, for Commerzbank it is more than eight billion rubles. Further details remained open. Deutsche Bank declined to comment. Initially, no comment was received from Commerzbank.

In January, the same court froze nearly $500 million (€459 million) in assets of German industrial gases maker Linde at the request of RusKhimAlyans. RusKhimAlyans is involved in a gas project at the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga.
