Feletti will evaluate this Monday the freezing of food and medicine prices

In radio statements this week, Feletti announced that a “very broad” call was made for Monday to the sectors that participate in the mass consumer products program, to review some details of its implementation.

The official said that “in the first week of application there was in total, in prices and supply, a combined index of almost 80%, a 78% compliance, which for the beginning is acceptable”, and that from now on “we are pressing to expand and raise that margin. “

He remarked that “if there is not a basic food basket of 1,500 products in a country that produces food, we are in a problem”, and that “Argentina cannot be confined to the business plans of 30 companies.”

“Now, in this crisis, they are being asked to collaborate, to help what are going to be the first parties after the pandemic, where people have to celebrate; it is almost a post-war worldwide, not to be frustrated by prices, “he said.

On the other hand, a response from the laboratories is also expected for Monday to the proposal to roll back the price of medicines to the values in force as of November 1 and keep them unchanged until January 7, official sources indicated.

“Monday is the day that the laboratories have to answer” the government’s proposal, sources from the Ministry of Internal Trade told Telam.

After the principle of agreement reached last Thursday, Feletti indicated that, in principle, the values of “all medicines” will be returned to those in force as of November 1, and will remain unchanged until January 7.

In this sense, he pointed out that “the consumption of drugs normally revolves around 500 products”, and announced that the agreement “will include all the drugs.”

Feletti celebrated that there has been “fortunately compression of the pharmaceutical chambers”, with which – he anticipated – from Monday “prices would have to begin to be ordered”.

Likewise, he specified that the monitoring modality will be through the charging of prices by the laboratories through the National Drug Vademecum published by the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat), the database of the drugs that are currently marketed in the country.

He indicated that “the laboratories agreed that what was not integrated into the Vademecum must be integrated,” while recalling that the mechanism was “abandoned by macrismo” and “now there is consensus with the Minister (of Health, Carla) Vizzotti to build it. “

“They (the laboratories) are going to incorporate the products on Monday and, on that, we are going to start stabilizing work,” said the official, who specified that “in principle it would be on all products until January 7 and then , at the work table, we all know that in these things there are usually discussions, so it will be rectified and corrected “.

In this sense, he stressed the need to “open a set of work tables, as in the case of food,” with the aim of “consolidating these two regulated baskets of essential goods.”

“In the case of medicines, there is fortunately an important and strong national industry; and there also has to be a scenario in which there is a regulation based on defining access to popular income,” said the secretary.

In this context, he argued that “people do not choose to eat or not eat, or to treat themselves or not to take care of themselves when they are sick,” for which he stated that “it is a market with rigid demand.”
