The Secretary of Energy provided for an increase in subsidies for carafe users included in the home program of 4% per month from this month until September, through resolution 568/2023, published today in the Official Gazette, while modifying the allocation scheme incorporating single-person households as a criterion.
In this way, the amount of subsidy for bottles -average in the country- that had been set at $1,581 last April will become $1,644 as of this month, $1,709 in August, and $1,778 in September.
The change in the amount is based on a technical report prepared by the Liquefied Gas Department of the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, and the percentage of monthly increase is in line with the price indexation in initiatives such as Fair Prices.
The Home Program seeks to ensure the regular, reliable and economic supply of gas to low-income residential sectors that do not have access to the network.
They set a maximum cap on the price of carafes
The number of subsidized jugs is set according to demand conditions, taking criteria such as household composition, geographic location and time of year.
Since its creation in 2015, an additional quantity of carafes has been made available to those beneficiaries in the cold areas of the country, including the provinces of Tierra del Fuego, Santa Cruz, Chubut, Río Negro and Neuquén.
In addition, more bottles were established for households with more than five members, and a seasonal increase in the subsidy in the winter months.
Today’s resolution, in addition to fixing an update of the subsidies, adds as a new distribution criterion to single-person households, made up of one person of legal age and who have lower consumption compared to households with more members.
A differentiated allocation scheme will be applied to these households, that is, with a smaller number of subsidized jugs distributed with respect to those with 2 to 4 members, and those with 5 or more members. This -the recitals state- “will allow the resources of the National State to be effectively segmented”.
In addition, they stressed that “define a new scheme for the quantity of bottles and their monthly distribution would make it possible to sustain the amount of the subsidy at a high percentage of coverage over the value of the bottle” set by Energy.
