A driverless, fully electric minibus for up to 15 passengers is expected to complement the public transport service in Hamburg by the end of 2024. Hamburg has been experimenting with autonomous shuttle vehicles for some time. Between 2019 and 2021, Hochbahn had already tested how an automated minibus could work in city traffic with the “Heat” project in Hafencity. In addition, the on-demand shuttles “hvv hop” already operating in Harburg are to be supplemented with 20 autonomous cars by the end of 2025.
