Automotive production grew 21% in the first half and crowned the best start to the year since 2014

The national production of vehicles closed the first half of the year with a year-on-year rise of 21.4% and completes the best start to the year since 2014. According to data from the Association of Automotive Factories (ADEFA)in the first six months of 2023, the automotive industry reached 295,777 vehicles produced and exceeded the 243,698 units that were produced in the same period of 2022.

Automotive production: up more than 10% year-on-year

In the month of June, 53,522 units were produced, which meant a up 10.6% year-on-year and 0.5% in relation to May of this year.

The manager added that “At the end of the first semester, the sector shows an accumulated growth of 21.4% and 8.6% in production and exports, respectively. This behavior drives reinforce joint work with the Value Chain and the Government to face the current challenges that ensure the growth trend shown in the first semester“.

Regarding wholesale sales, the ADEFA report highlighted that in June the automotive sector sold 44,138 vehicles to the dealer network, that is, 18.5% more than the volume of June 2022 and 14.3% compared to the deliveries of the previous month.

If we take the first six months of the year, sales to dealers were 206,861 units, which is a 14.1% increase compared to the first half of last year.
