Sergio Massa gave a speech at the inauguration of the first section of the Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline. The Minister of Economy also pointed hard against the International Monetary Fund (IMF), thanked Alberto Fernández for his initiative in continuing the work and sent a clear message to the businessmen who did not contribute to the Country Tax, income that helped build the work.
“My thanks to President Alberto Fernández when the IMF asked us to stop it, because it has to do with works that those of us who administer Argentina today will not enjoy in the next six months.” He also highlighted the Argentine companies that participated in the construction of the Gas Pipeline: “I want to thank the Argentine companies for complying in a timely manner with what everyone told us was impossible. Thanks to BTU, TECHINT AND SACDE and the thousands of workers who in very harsh conditions, at night, against the cold, against the wind, they showed Argentina that we are capable”.
“For those who argue that it is a country without a destination, without a future where everything is wrong. Today is one of those days where the pride of being Argentines clearly appears in the soul and heart of every Argentine and knowing that even if they put obstacles in our way, even if they want to condemn us to being a dependent country, we have what to build sovereignty with, what to build homeland and the future of our nation”, highlighted the Minister of Economy.
“We started with this gas pipeline not only to follow the path of energy sovereignty but also to follow the path of Argentina selling its value-added resource to the world. The LNG law has to allow us to sell raw material with Argentine labor, that has to be our project for the country,” he added.
When opening the speeches at the event in the town of Salliqueló, Massa also thanked the policy of Cristina Kirchner’s government, the workers and the Argentine companies that met the deadlines.
“When we talk about savings, we are no longer going to import gas by boat, but rather we are going to use that from our subsoil. In 15 days we will tender the reversal gas pipeline from the north,” announced the Minister of Economy.
And he emphasized: “Argentina is going to go from being a country with a dollar deficit to one with a surplus because we are doing the works that change that equation.”
Minister Massa assured that Argentina will go from being a country with a dollar deficit due to having to import energy to one with a surplus due to gas exports, after the inauguration of the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline.
At one point in the speech, he also pointed against the businessmen who refused to pay the PAIS Tax, funds that were used for the construction of the work. “We are going to charge him the same,” said Massa.
The Minister of Economy also announced that tenders will begin for the second stretch of Salliqueló-San Gerónimo to supply the Argentine coast and start trying to export via southern Brazil to increase exports.
