Customs and Federal Police raid banks and companies for trout imports

The companies carried out operations illegally to benefit from the price differences between the different exchange rates of the dollar.

Within the framework of a joint operation, the General Directorate of Customs and the Federal Police raided six banks and five companies from the center of Buenos Aires this Monday in search of information on false import process operations (colloquially known as “trout imports”) that allowed currency to escape at the official exchange rate.

This was confirmed to Ambit official sources and affirmed that “they raided many homes” and anticipated that the director of Customs, Michel, and Carlos Ñamandu, commissioner in charge of Federal Crimes, will give a conference on the subject this Monday afternoon.

The operation is carried out two months after another similar one that Customs and the Gendarmerie carried out on May 9. In both cases, the investigated maneuver known as the “financial loop”, where companies —without economic substance and falsifying documentation— made transfers to companies incorporated abroad to get dollars at the official value and then sell them at the value of the blue.

Note in development.-
