Dollar: holders of credits they will not be able to buy foreign currency
As of this relaunch, the maximum amounts of the credits will go from $240,000 to $400,000 for retirees; and from $85,000 to $150,000 for beneficiaries of Non-Contributory Benefits (PNC) and the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM). The credit ceilings have not been modified since February 2022, and the modification will imply an increase in them of 66.67% for retirees and 76.47% for other beneficiaries.
In addition, the regulations provide that “by virtue of the nature of the credits”the respective areas of the Anses articulate with the Central Bank (BCRA) the implementation of new “information mechanisms in relation to current or future regulations regarding control of access to the exchange market for the purpose of foreign currency purchase and sale operations”.
Beyond this, ANSES points out in its Web page that the credit holders they will not be able to buy foreign currency, restriction that already applied to the beneficiaries of Non-Contributory Pensions (PNC) for the mere fact of receiving themand that will now be extended to retirees.
“Since an urgent role of the State is to generate the necessary conditions so that retirees and pensioners have access to credit and, consequently, to consumption under reasonable market conditions, it has been considered convenient to increase the current maximum amounts of credits”indicate the recitals of the resolution.
On the other hand, it is still maintained as a condition that applicants reside in the country and are not over 92 years of age at the time of finalizing the loan.
