In the Resolution 1050/2021 -which ordered the freezing of mass consumption products- it was established that fresh partially skimmed milk with 2% fat content, Armonía brand, produced by La Serenísima, must be available in retail stores with a stipulated retail price of $ 57, 70 in the Federal Capital, and $ 59.75 in the province of Buenos Aires.
The note signed by Debt, Adecua and Proconsumer, among other associations, stated that “when consulting the merchants regarding the absence of the product that, due to its quality and price, is highly competitive with other brands of fluid milk, reported that La Serenísima does not provide it and informs through its authorized distributors that Armonía milk is only sold to large supermarkets “.
The company La Serenísima indicates on its website that it is “the largest supplier of dairy products in our country; through its 12 distribution centers located in different jurisdictions and through 816 marketing trucks, it distributes its products to 71,000 points of sale, from which most of them belong to the traditional channel of stores, pantries and neighborhood shops and the rest to the modern channel, supermarkets and hypermarkets “.
In this sense, the group of associations observed that “There would be no economic or logistical obstacle for the aforementioned product to be distributed to all retail businesses, without any exclusion, and purchased by consumers at the beneficial price stipulated by Resolution 1050/2021, in all businesses in the country, which would allow access to an essential good such as milk, to important social sectors that are in conditions of economic vulnerability. “
“Argentine consumers make 65% of purchases of food and beverages in local stores, such as warehouses, pantries and neighborhood shops, and only 35% in supermarkets and hypermarkets,” added the entities. In addition, they stressed that “the latest data provided by the Observatory of the Argentine Milky Chain (OCLA) account for the drop in fluid milk consumption in the country, which is mainly due to economic reasons “.
“Therefore, ensuring that this product reaches a cheaper price for the entire population, would result in a recovery in domestic consumption,” they indicated.
