The cost of construction rose 5.6% in June

He index of construction cost (BCI) in Greater Buenos Aires rose 5.5% in July and accumulates an advance of 44.9% in the first semester, as reported on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).

The rise of ICC was a consequence of the 7.1% rise in the prices of Materialsof 3.2% in the heading Labour and 10% on the item General expenses.

In the last twelve months, the ICC accumulates a rise of 113.7%. Meanwhile, the year-on-year rise (ia) in the value of Materials and General expenses are above that percentage, at 120.3% and 117%, respectively, although the Labour it is below 106.6% yoy

Construction Cost: Which Materials Saw the Biggest Increases

During July, the groups of materials that increased the most were gas appliances 12.9%, fire equipment 10.8%, Metallic products for sanitary and electrical installation 9.3%, Raw wood and wood for ceilings and floors 9.2%, elevators 8.4%, woodworking parts 8.1%, carpet floors 8.0% and iron for construction 7.7%.

The 44.9% rise in the Cost of Construction during the first half of the year was driven by a 44.9% rise in Materialsof 53.1% in Bills generalswhile the value of the Labour increased 43.2%.

In this last segment, the salaried labor it’s up just 42.8% so far this year.
