Supermarket sales grew slightly in May;  in shopping malls they climbed 12.5%

With a similar trend, in wholesale self-services, sales at constant values ​​marked an increase of 2% year-on-year in May.

Sales in supermarkets during May grew 0.2% in relation to the same month last year, while in the large shopping centers the improvement was 12.5% ​​in the same periodthe National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) reported on Tuesday.

With a similar trend, in Wholesale self-service sales at constant values ​​marked a 2% year-on-year increase in May.

Regarding the comparison with the previous month, the sales measured at constant prices in May of supermarkets were 2.5% below those of April; in wholesale supermarkets it was -4.9% and in shopping malls it was -1.6%.

In supermarkets, billing at current prices totaled $388,908 million, which represented an increase of 116.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, against retail inflation of 114%.

In those sales, the item groups with the most significant increases compared to the same month of the previous year were: “Greengrocers and greengrocers”, with 174.5%; “Drinks”, with 139.9%; “Prepared foods and rotisserie”, with 139.3%; and “Bakery”, with 120.9%highlighted the organization.
