In Germany in particular, a security gap is sometimes widely reported. This lasted for nine months. Apart from the hacker collective “Zer Reverse Engineering Zentrum”, nobody noticed this, as the company announced on request yesterday. This can be understood based on the accesses.

Specifically, it is about a QR code on an Instagram ad by Rosenbauer. The app behind it connected to the fleet management system, which was actually intended to simplify the maintenance of the fire-fighting vehicles. However, the data analysts were able to assign fire-fighting vehicles to specific operators and in some cases even locate them precisely.

Rosenbauer reports that the company actually only became aware of the gap through the collective tests. This has now been remedied. There was no data leak. It was also never about personal data. Mission-critical data could not be recorded either. The customers have been informed. According to the standard, more than 150 customers – from the Vienna fire brigade to the fire brigade in Singapore – are affected. There is no financial damage.

The hacker attack, which affected production at several Rosenbauer locations for weeks from the end of February, has nothing to do with this incident.
