Construction fell in June for the third consecutive month

He Synthetic indicator of construction activity (ISAC) fell in June for the third consecutive month, falling 2.8% year-on-year last month, as reported this Wednesday, August 9, by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

He ISAC accumulated a decrease of 2.1% between January and June, compared to the same period in 2022.

In June 2023, the index of the seasonally adjusted series shows a negative variation of 1.5% with respect to the previous month and the trend-cycle series index registers a positive variation of 0.5% with respect to the previous month.

How much did construction inputs increase in June?

The construction supplies in June 2023 show, in relation to the same month of the previous year, increases of 19.5% in granite and calcareous mosaics; 17.3% in asphalt; 8.7% in the rest of the inputs (includes faucets, seamless steel tubes, and building glass); 6.0% in finished concrete; and 1.9% in construction paints.

Meanwhile, decreases of 16.9% are observed in and so; 13.5% in ceramic floors and coverings; 10.9% in round iron and steel for construction; 9.8% in hollow bricks; 7.8% in limes; 4.0% in ceramic sanitary ware; 3.2% in plasterboard; and 2.1% in portland cement.

On the other hand, if one analyzes the variations of the accumulated during the first six months of the year 2023 as a whole in relation to the same period of the previous year, increases of 18.7% are observed in granite and calcareous mosaics; 13.1% in the rest of the inputs (includes taps, seamless steel tubes and glass for construction); 10.2% in finished concrete; 1.7% in plasterboard; and 0.9% in portland cement.

In turn, decreases of 16.0% were observed in articles ceramic toilets; 15.4% in ceramic floors and coverings; 14.9% in hollow bricks; 8.0% in limes; 7.8% in and so; 2.0% in round iron and steel for construction; 1.0% in asphalt; and 0.8% in paintings for construction.
