Before the release of the US inflation data, the Dax reached 16,000 points again on Thursday. Most recently, the leading German index just missed this mark and rose by 0.79 percent to 15,977.10 points. Weak price developments on overseas stock exchanges did not deter investors from buying.

The MDax for medium-sized companies increased by 0.74 percent to 28,234.12 points. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 gained 1.2 percent.

The focus is on the balance sheet season in Germany, with seven companies reporting from the Dax alone. In the afternoon, the most important economic data of the week will follow with the US consumer prices. They are a signal for the US Federal Reserve in the ongoing rate hike cycle to combat inflation.

Siemens failed to meet analysts’ expectations in the past quarter. The Digital Industries division in particular disappointed market participants. The course slipped by 3.3 percent.

Higher prices and lower claims from natural catastrophes were a surprisingly strong driver of insurer Allianz in the second quarter. The titles gained 3.4 percent in the Dax. The titles of the Rheinmetall armaments group fell by 2.4 percent. The margin of the Düsseldorf company remained below the target for the year in the second quarter.

SMA Solar shares recently lost 6.9 percent in the MDax. The focus is on the order situation of the manufacturer of solar inverters. Thanks to good business in both segments, the truck and train brake manufacturer Knorr- Bremse is becoming somewhat more optimistic for the financial year. This gave the papers an increase of 4.9 percent.

At the IT security service provider Secunet Security Networks, business picked up again in the second quarter after a weak start to the year. The course rose by 14 percent in the SDax.
