Wages grew 6.1% in June and narrowly beat inflation

The wage index registered in June a 6.1% increaseone tenth above the inflationwhich was 6% in the sixth month of the current year, reported this Thursday the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

In June, the assets of the registered private workers increased 5.7%; 6% the salaries of the public administration; and 7.5% in the informal sector.

In this way, in the first six months of the year, the income of private workers increased 47.3%; the salaries of public employees, 50.2%; and 41% the salaries of unregistered employees.

Based on these numbers, the first semester average reflected a rise in wages of 47.2%, 3.5 points below inflation for the same period, which was 50.7%.

Wages: How they fared against inflation in the last 12 months

In the last 12 months, the wages of registered private workers increased 110%; those of public employees, 121.4%; and the salaries of informal workers, 82.4%.

Thus, in the last twelve months wages rose on average 108.7%, against inflation of 115.6%.
