Only two of the items measured sold more than in 2022: Footwear and Leather Goods, and Audio, video, cell phone equipment and accessories. Meanwhile, the sales ticket had an average of $12,032.

Children’s Day: How were the sales item by item
1. Footwear and leather goods
With an average ticket of $14,878, sales rose 6.5% compared to Children’s Day 2022, measured at real prices.
2. Audio and video equipment, cell phones and accessories
There was a growth of 4.9% compared to 2022 at real prices and the average ticket amounted to $14,614.
3. Clothing and accessories
Sales declined 1.8%, compared to last season, and the ticket was close to $9,184. The high temperatures of the week slowed down purchases of winter clothing and the supply of summer clothing was scarce, which affected the sale of these garments. The price increases did not help either, and there were few promotions for the usual of these stores. Only 46.6% of the SMEs measured carried out any.
4. Toy stores
Despite being the star item of the date, sales decreased 2% compared to last year. There was little stock and few varieties of products. The prices also had significant increases and that caused the demand to be oriented towards cheap items. The ticket averaged $12,099. It was the sector that carried out the most promotions, 76.3% of the surveyed premises had some, either their own or with banks.
5. Bookstores
It was the item where sales collapsed the most compared to last year (-8.6%). Book prices rose 20% in the previous week and for many customers what was usually an inexpensive gift became an expensive gift this year. The average ticket was located at $7,643, and although it was the lowest of all the surveyed sectors, the gap with products such as clothing was smaller than on other occasions, which explains the lower interest in choosing it as an option for this celebration.
