Wholesale prices slowed to 7% in July but were above inflation

The general level of the Wholesale Internal Price Index (IPIM) was 7% in July 2023. It slowed down compared to the previous month but was once again above inflation.

The general level of the Wholesale Internal Price Index (IPIM) registered an increase of 7% in July 2023 compared to the previous month, reported this Tuesday, August 22, the INDEC. This implies 0.5 percentage points below the previous measurement and 0.7 percentage points above the CPI for July.

This variation was due to the increase in 7% in “National Products” and of 7.7% in “Imported products”.

On the other hand, the general level of Basic wholesale internal price index (IPIB) showed a rise of 6.7% in the same period. In this case, the variation is explained by the rise of 6.6% in “Domestic Products” and 7.7% in “Imported Products”.

In turn, the general level of Basic producer price index (IPP) registered an increase of 6.4% in the same periodas a consequence of the rise of 5.6% in “Primary products” and of 6.8% in “Manufactured products and electrical energy”.

For his part, July inflation was 6.3%, 0.7 percentage points below wholesale prices. Thus exceeded 60% increase in the first 7 months of the year and year-on-year there was a slight decrease to 113.4% (from 115.6%).
