The Ministry of Energy informed that the new price is valid until a new value replaces it. Biodiesel is intended for mandatory mixing with diesel, with a cut of 7.5%.
The Government formalized a 20% increase in the biodiesel price after the claim of 27 plants by increased costs. The plants had claimed a 24% increase to return to operation.
“By virtue of what was stated by the chambers that bring together the majority of the companies biodiesel producers in the sector regarding the increase in manufacturing costs of said product within the framework of the macroeconomic context current situation, it is necessary to replace the prices established opportunely by Resolution No. 602/23 of the Secretary of Energy for biodiesel to be marketed in the remainder of August 2023, until a new price replaces it”, stated Resolution 694/2023.
Although the increase is 4% below what the SMEs requested, the sector understands that it is still a good number. Until this August 22, $361,672 was paid for ton of biodiesel, while now the value went to $434,006 a ton.
The devaluation jump generated a strong impact on most of the inputs used by the industry, but it was greater in the value of soybean oil. With the official dollar to $350 changed the cost equation.
