100% digital nomads: Argentines want to work while traveling the world. This is revealed by a new Boomerang study. But why don’t they? According to the report, 99% of Argentine talents would like to work while traveling the world. However, 65% say that the company where they work does not allow their employees to lead this lifestyle that some call digital nomadism. What are the reasons? What are the benefits of being a digital nomad? And what are the disadvantages?

digital nomads is a Boomerang report in which 13,925 talents from the region participated: 3,244 from Argentina, 3,355 from Chile, 3,196 from Ecuador, 2,641 from Panama and 1,489 from Peru. It explores how common it is for people to work while traveling the world and how supported this lifestyle is by companies.

“This tendency of the human being to want to travel the world is not something new, but thanks to technology today it is possible to do it for a large number of talents. And this crystallizes in the fact that flexibility regarding schedules and the geographical location from which one works is one of the main demands of workers when choosing a job”, explains Federico Barni, CEO of Jobint.

What is a digital nomad?

What is a digital nomad? He is a professional who uses new technologies to work remotely while traveling anywhere in the world. 99% of the talents from Argentina would like to work while traveling the world, while only 1% would prefer not to pursue such a lifestyle.

In principle, it is worth saying that the results are compelling: 99% of Argentine talents would like to work while traveling the world. This percentage is replicated in other countries, also marking a clear trend in the world of work. In explaining why they do not lead this lifestyle, 65% say that “it is not something easy to achieve” and 23% say that the organization where they work does not allow them and they are not in a position to change jobs. That number is equal in Chile, increases to 68% in Ecuador and stretches to 71% in Panama.

Does the job allow them to be digital nomads? 65% of Argentine talents said no, while 35% said yes. On the other hand, the workers affirm that the $54 does not give relevance to this benefit but whoever wants to can do it, while 30% of the companies do promote it.

For more than half of the workers, they believe that their companies do not allow the digital nomad lifestyle because their work is only face-to-face and only 10% indicated that it is because it implies developing other skills and confidence. However, 93% believe that in the future it will be more common to be a nomad.

It seems that the nomadism it is a shared dream in Latam. The situation is the same in the other countries of the region: 99% of Chileans, Ecuadorians, Panamanians and Peruvians would like to work while traveling around the world.

If 99% of the talents in Argentina want to be a digital nomad, why don’t they? 65% of them maintain that they do not do it because it is not something easy to achieve, 23% affirm that in their organization they are not allowed to work while traveling, 9% consider that they have not yet decided to make that change and 3% do not believe they feel prepared to lead this lifestyle.

Only 12% of Argentine talents were digital nomads and 54% of them had a employment in dependency relationship while it was.

88% of Argentine talents never worked as a digital nomad, while 12% did have that experience at some point in their lives professional career.

In the other countries of the region, the situation is similar: most of the talents never worked while he traveled the world. In Ecuador 92%, in Chile 90%, in Panama 90% as well and in Peru 85%.

Digital nomads, what are the advantages and disadvantages?

Digital nomads: what are the sectors that allow this way of working?

According to Bumeran surveying Argentine talents, the Technology and Systems, Commercial, Administration and Finance, Marketing and Communication sectors are the ones that most allowed this modality of work.
