The last generation wants to make Munich a “protest stronghold” before and during the IAA motor show. Activists taped themselves to the streets in several places.
They want to turn Munich into a “protest stronghold”: With several blockades, the last generation climate protection group has partially brought traffic to a standstill in the center of the Bavarian state capital.
According to the police, around 25 people stuck themselves to the road at six locations, blocking traffic. The activists demonstrated at the Stachus and on Maximilianstraße in the city center, among other places. The police diverted traffic and cleared the blockades. The fair lasts from September 5th to 10th.
Increased protests during the IAA auto show
The activists said about their actions that more than 50 protesters would block streets in Munich. With the actions before and during the IAA car and traffic fair, the group wants to make Munich “a protest stronghold for weeks” and thus “put the federal government’s breach of the constitution in the public eye.” They were also not stopped by the threat of preventive custody, criminal proceedings or fines, it was said.
Activists of the last generation have made headlines for the past year by blocking roads, freeways and airports, pasting paintings in museums, disrupting theater performances and paint attacks. According to the activists, a social council should be convened in Germany to end the use of fossil raw materials in Germany by 2030. The participants in this council are to be drawn at random.
