With the impetus of the fourth edition of Pre-Trip, the number of resident travelers grew 9% year-on-year and their overnight stays increased by 10% in June 2023. In addition, within the framework of the growth of incoming tourism, non-resident travelers showed an increase of 66% year-on-year in the same month, while their overnight stays did the same in 59%.
In the same sense, “hotels and restaurants” was the item with the highest growth in June 2023 (8.8% year-on-year), according to the “Monthly Estimator of Economic Activity” (EMAE) that was also released today. In addition, the hotel-gastronomic sector had led the record of salaried employment (13.4% year-on-year growth) in the report on “Situation and evolution of Registered Work”, corresponding to the month of May, released by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security.
With the aim of deseasonalizing tourist activity, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports carried out the fourth edition of PreViaje, which returned 50% of the expenses to those who made getaways at the end of May and in June 2023. “With the impulse of Pre-Trip, we are not going to have a ‘low season’ in our destinations”, glimpsed the minister Matthias Lammens before its release.
As officially reported, PreViaje reached seven million tourists in its four editions, with an impact of $584 billion for regional economies, measured in constant May 2023 pesos. According to the projections of the Argentine Tourism Observatory (OAT) , generated more than 60 thousand jobs.
