Two days after the new scheduled increase is made official, the Government is internally debating the possibility of freezing transport rates in the AMBA. The companies have not yet expressed themselves in this regard.

“It is a measure under analysis, there is nothing defined at the moment,” official sources expressed in dialogue with Ambit. The increase in public transport is scheduled for this Friday.


If the measure is confirmed, the established monthly increases starting in March of this year. It should be remembered that a 6.2% increase in the minimum price of tickets is scheduled – or was – as of September, in line with the evolution of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the Greater Buenos Aires in July, according to the INDEC measurement.
Based on that increase, which now the Government analyzes suspending, the minimum bus ticket for trips of up to 3 kilometers should cost $56.24, the section from 3 to 6 kilometers would reach $62.66 and the trip between 6 and 12 kilometers would cost $64.48. For their part, passengers traveling between 12 and 27 kilometers would have to pay $72.31 and those who travel more than that distance, $77.11.
As far as trains are concerned, the tickets they would cost between $27.31 and $35.34, depending on the line, while the subway would go from $74 to $80.

Now all increases they are subject to what the Nation decides and the increases could be postponed until after the presidential elections. For now, if so, the minimum ticket will continue to cost $52.96.

According to Argentine Association of Automotive Transport Entrepreneurs (Aeeta), between the current value of the ticket ($52.96) and the economic compensations of the State (subsidy for price regulation) only 74.7% of the real costs of the system are covered. The remaining 25.3%, they say, is absorbed by the companies.
