The measure was made official with Resolution 501/2023 in the Official Gazette and suspends the increase scheduled for this Friday.
The government froze the rates of collective and trains in it Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) until after the elections. The move is in line with the recently announced price agreements and the freezing of prepaid and fuels to try to moderate the impact of inflation.

The measure was made official with the Resolution 501/2023 in Official bulletin. The decision suspends the increase that was scheduled for this Friday, September 1, but was suspended and the values that govern August will remain fixed. The Ministry of Transportation, in turn, invited the provinces, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) and the municipalities to adhere to the resolution.


The justification of the Ministry of Transport for taking the measure was the following: “the terrestrial public transport of urban and suburban passengers is a indispensable tool for the instrumentation of the daily activities of the population, whose main function is the transfer of the members of the community to each one of the places where they are developed, constituting, in this sense, a first link for the economic-social development “.
“That as a consequence of this situation, the existence of a right to transport and mobility, whose holders are the citizens and that the National State is committed to protecting according to the objectives determined for this State Portfolio”, he highlights.
And he closes: “That one of the actions by which the protection of this right materializes is to offer the possibility of access public service of passenger transport throughout the whole populationpreserving the nature of mandatory provision for the satisfaction of primary collective needs”.
Transport: how are the rates based on the August price
After freezing, the following values will be taken as a reference in the AMBA:
- The minimum ticket (between 0 and 3 kilometers): $52.96;
- Section from 3 to 6 km: $59;
- Stretch from 6 to 12 kilometers: $63.54;
- Trips from 12 to 27 km: $68.09;
- More than 27 km: $72.61.
On the other hand, the rates of train will be as follows:
- Miter line: the minimum $33.28.
- Sarmiento Line: the minimum $33.28.
- San Martín line: the minimum $33.28.
- Tren de la Costa: the minimum $33.28.
- Roca Line: the minimum $25.72.
- Belgrano Sur line: the minimum $25.72.
- Urquiza line: the minimum $25.72.
- Belgrano Norte line: the minimum $25.72.
