Labor market: placement rate too low?  BA denies allegations

According to a report, the placement rate of citizens’ income recipients has halved in recent years. The Federal Employment Agency rejects this – and refers to the criteria for the quota.

The Federal Employment Agency (BA) has rejected allegations that the placement rate of citizens’ allowance recipients is too low. This quota is very narrow. It represents “only a small part of our activities for placing people in work,” said a spokeswoman in Nuremberg.

According to an RTL/ntv report, the placement rate for recipients of citizenship benefit halved between 2014 and 2022 to just under six percent. CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann said according to RTL / ntv: “The decline in the placement rate is frightening. Politicians must enable the Federal Employment Agency to fulfill its actual core task of getting as many people as possible into work. You must not be reduced to a payment and action point.”

BA: Quota criteria are narrow

The BA spokeswoman explained that very narrow criteria apply to this quota. The start of work is only counted if it is not funded. In addition, only cases were counted in which the job classification of applicant and job matched. However, this match is not always available, for example not if the applicant has specified a different target occupation: “Such a placement is then not counted as such.”

There are a number of other placement activities by employees in the employment agencies and job centers that are not included in the quota – such as advice or potential analyses. The placement rate, on the other hand, relates more to a technical comparison of job offers and applicant profiles.

In 2022, 481,000 people who received citizen benefits took up a job in the primary labor market. According to the BA, 31,000 cases flowed into the classic placement rate.
