The Dax stabilized somewhat after its recent series of losses on Thursday. The leading German index turned positive over the course of the day and gained 0.18 percent to 15,769.29 points by midday.

However, the stock indices from the second and third tier remained under some pressure. The MDax for medium-sized titles, for example, fell by 0.35 percent to 27,341.59 points. This stock market barometer is thus heading for its third day of losses in a row. The SDax small-cap index fell by 0.30 percent. The leading eurozone index, the EuroStoxx 50, rose by 0.17 percent.

However, disappointing economic data came from Germany. Industry in this country continues to develop weakly. Economic output had already been declining in the winter months. In the spring quarter it was only enough to stagnate.
