Inflation will continue to run at a double-digit monthly average rate at least until the elections on October 22, according to the Latin American Economic Research Foundation (FIEL).
“Between now and the October elections, the economy will move with inflation two monthly digitsa recession more accentuated and more uncertainty”, says FIEL in its latest publication “Conjuncture Indicators”.
The editorial points out that “as we approach December 10, what the government that takes office that day is expected to do will begin to have more and more weight.”
“It seems unlikely that the economics agents believe that the official exchange rate can be sustained by dint of more restrictions and controls,” the entity warns.
FIEL points out that “the planned improvement in the exports will give a relief on the external frontbut this does not resolve the need to have genuine pesos for the BCRA or the Treasury to buy Dollars without pressing on the rate of inflation, nor the fact that part of these currencies must be used to cancel the debts assumed by the current management.
Inflation: a fact that relieved
He food price recorded in the first week of September a slight drop of 0.3 percentage points when compared to the previous seven days, according to a survey by the consulting firm LCG.
“In the first week of September the price increase of food averaged 1.6%, decelerating 0.3% compared to the previous week,” says the private report.
The work noted that “the index of food and drinks presented a monthly inflation of 10.4% average in the last 4 weeks and 10.2% end to end in the same period.”
In that sense, the survey indicated that in the first days of the current month the fruits jumped 7%; condiments, 3.9%; ready-to-go meals 3%: bread and pasta, 2.8%, dairy and eggs 1.7; oils, 0.9; meats, 0.6, drinks and infusions, 0.2, and sugar and honey registered a decrease of 0.5%.
