Brandenburg: Accident at the Jänschwalde power plant

The Jänschwalde brown coal power plant has taken two of the four units in operation offline. A piece of concrete had previously fallen onto the tracks and is now blocking the removal of ash.

After an accident at an ash silo in the Jänschwalde brown coal power plant, the operator took two blocks off the grid for safety reasons. A spokeswoman announced this on Tuesday. The “Lausitzer Rundschau” (Monday) and the RBB had previously reported on it.

A concrete-steel structure fell onto the Leag Railway tracks during the night from Saturday to Sunday. This meant that ash could no longer be loaded onto trains at this point.

No impact on power supply

According to Leag, the accident has no impact on the power supply. It was initially unclear when the blocks would be opened again.
