Three weeks ago, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa announced with the secretary of energy Flavia Royón and the president of Energía Argentina, Agustín Gerez, the launch of the works of Reversal of the North Gasduct in the Córdoba town of Tío Pujio, which aims to supply the provinces of Northwestern Argentina with Vaca Muerta gas.
The investment was US$710 millionof which US$540 million were financed by the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The gas pipeline is made up of 3 different works that include the construction of 1 gas pipeline between Tío Pujio-La Carlota in Córdoba (vicinities of Villa María) which consists of 122 km, 2 extensions on the North Gasduct (62 km) and the reversal of the direction of gas injection in 4 existing compressor plants: Ferreyra and Dean Funes (Córdoba), Lavalle (Santiago del Estero) and Lumbreras (Salta).
The works will allow gas from Vaca Muerta to be brought to the industries of Córdoba, Tucumán, La Rioja, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Salta and Jujuyas well as the connection of homes to natural gas networks and the scale development of new industrial activities, especially lithium mining.
Meanwhile, the project will generate 3,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect, a saving annual imports for US$1,960 million and a reduction in the cost of electricity generation and natural gas for the industries of northern Argentina.
In addition, it will allow exports to the north of Chile, the center of Brazil and Bolivia.

In this framework, in dialogue with the “Más Energía” portal, Javier Martínez Álvarez President of Tenaris For Conosur, he indicated that the company had to speed up the times. “We had to run to get the pipes. We had to place steel in three different steel mills and we worked with the clock against us but it was a fantastic job that we were able to get there,” he considered.
