In this index, the INDEC makes four weighted baskets according to the age of the children and adolescents: under 1 year old, from 1 to 3, from 4 to 5 and from 6 to 12.

Breeding basket: how the index is built
This indicator reveals, on the one hand, the monthly costs of the essential goods and services for the protection of minor age groups and also the cost of care that is the required time for each of the age groups of boys, girls and adolescents.

For the estimation of cost of care of children and adolescents, Indec considered “first of all the theoretical time required of care for each of the age groups”.
In turn, the hours of care are valued by taking the remuneration of the category “Assistance and care of people” of the Special Employment Contract Regime for Personnel in Private Homes.
Breeding basket: what is the reason for the new index
