Four days in the office instead of five? Participating companies should try out this model for their employees for at least six months.
Working shorter hours for the same pay – the four-day week concept is also to be tested in a large project in Germany in the future. Interested companies can voluntarily apply to participate from Thursday. The campaign was initiated by the management consultancy Intraprenör, based in Berlin. According to her own statements, she has set herself the goal of convincing at least 50 companies of the project.
The participating companies should try out the four-day week for at least six months – according to the model of 100 percent performance in 80 percent of the time with 100 percent pay. According to Intraprenör, within the project period, companies can rely on experts, learn new methods and exchange ideas with the other participating employers. The University of Münster is responsible for the scientific evaluation. The six-month project phase is scheduled to begin this year.
Intraprenör is working on the project with the NGO 4 Day Week Global, which has already brought the project in a similar form to various other countries. In Great Britain, many companies subsequently expressed great interest in introducing the four-day week. Because the companies were able to volunteer for the project, the results from Great Britain and the future ones for Germany are not representative.
