In early trading, the leading German index lost 0.24 percent to 15,855.22 points. The MDax fell by 0.29 percent to 27,236.17 points. At the same time, the Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 fell by 0.33 percent.
The week before, the DAX had gained around one percent and thus reacted positively to the ECB. Although this raised the key interest rate again, it signaled that this could bring an end to the interest rate hike that began last year to combat high inflation. But now there is new uncertainty, namely how long interest rates will remain at the high level they have reached.
Among the individual stocks, auto stocks were predominantly weaker, but supplier Continental bucked this trend. The share remained up 0.1 percent. A study by the US investment bank Goldman Sachs should provide support. Analyst George Galliers canceled his sell recommendation for the paper.
Puma SE shares rose by 0.7 percent in the MDax. Dealers pointed out that the Ferrari motorsport department Scuderia Ferrari had apparently chosen the sporting goods manufacturer again as a premium partner from 2024.
The index changes in the MDax and the SDax for smaller values only noticeably moved Ionos. The Internet service provider’s shares rose by 1.8 percent at the top of the SDax. The paper from the parent company United Internet, which can now be found again in the MDax, did not react to the rise in the index and was somewhat weaker in line with the market. The shares of the newcomer to the stock exchange and hydrogen specialist Thyssenkrupp Nucera also fell slightly.
