The Dax paid tribute to its recent recovery on Monday. After the European Central Bank (ECB) announced a break in interest rates, investors are now asking themselves whether the US Federal Reserve will take a similar approach on Wednesday, said chief market analyst Jochen Stanzl from CMC Markets. But that is “more than uncertain”. At lunchtime, the leading German index fell 0.55 percent to 15,806.00 points and the MDax lost 0.59 percent to 27,155.19 points.

But that is “more than uncertain”. At lunchtime, the leading German index fell 0.55 percent to 15,806.00 points and the MDax lost 0.59 percent to 27,155.19 points.
The week before, the DAX had gained around one percent and thus reacted positively to the ECB’s decisions. Although this raised the key interest rate again, it signaled that the interest rate hike that began last year to combat high inflation could be over.
Among the individual stocks, Fresenius shares were in first place in the Dax at lunchtime with an increase of 0.7 percent. It is considered a defensive stock, i.e. less dependent on the economic situation than, for example, industrial stocks. Munich Re rose by 0.6 percent.
Puma SE shares rose by 1.2 percent in the MDax. Dealers pointed out that the Ferrari motorsport department Scuderia Ferrari had apparently chosen the sporting goods manufacturer again as a premium partner from 2024.
The index changes in the MDax and the SDax for smaller values only noticeably moved Ionos. The Internet service provider’s shares rose by 3.4 percent at the top of the SDax. The paper from the parent company United Internet, which can now be found again in the MDax, did not react to its own rise in the index and was somewhat weaker in line with the market. The shares of the stock exchange newcomer and hydrogen specialist Thyssenkrupp Nucera fell by 1.6 percent
