With 341 exhibitors, including companies, schools and universities, the trade fair presented by OÖN sets a new record. In addition to the 172 teaching and training companies from the previous year, 26 have been added this year, and there has also been growth in career and educational advice as well as study and specialist training. At last year’s trade fair, around 80,000 visitors took advantage of the opportunity to find out about their career options. A total of 200 professions will be presented in Halls 20 and 21 – from mechanical engineering and information technology to tourism and health professions.

In addition, a colorful program awaits you on the four days of the trade fair (Wednesday to Saturday): various events such as workshops on the topic of “style and etiquette” or the opportunity to have a professional application photo taken of yourself. For a better overview, a digital offer is also available: With the DIGI trade fair, all exhibitors can be viewed in advance; what is new is the filter function and the option to mark your favorites.

The agony of (career) choice

“Starting a career has never been so full of opportunities for young people. Many people can already answer the question of what to do after school after visiting the trade fair,” says Doris Hummer, President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce. State Economics Councilor Markus Achleitner (VP) also promotes the trade fair: “This advice is so important “in order to avoid wrong decisions.” The state still has full employment, but companies are still looking for new employees: “It’s a paradise for young people, they are needed in all areas.” At the end of August, there were more than 2,000 apprenticeship seekers for 804 open apprenticeships.

As a change, visitors to the “Youth & Profession” in Hall 21 and the Rotax Hall can take a look at the “Austrian Skills” – the Austrian state championships for professions – which take place parallel to the trade fair. Plumbers, florists, graphic designers and electrical engineers, among others, are fighting to qualify for the international professional competitions. Visiting the trade fair is free, and there is a free shuttle service from Wels train station to the exhibition center. More details can be found here.
