Money in a partnership – a sensitive topic. When children come into play, things get even more complicated. Financial expert Nataschawegelin aka “Madame Moneypenny” explains how parents can have less stress with their finances.
Ms.wegelin, what does a financial expert who recently became a mother say about sayings like “Children are expensive” or “You have to be able to afford a child”? Is your mother’s heart protesting, or are you just starting to calculate?
Despite all the happiness of being a mother, there is no denying that children cost money. There is a new family member that needs to be taken care of. They want to have clothes and food, and later go on a school trip and get a driver’s license. By the time a child grows up, it costs the parents a six-figure sum. Of course, money is not the first thing that comes to mind when you want children. Nevertheless, I think it is important to ask ourselves the question rationally: How can we afford this? In the end, a lot of it is a matter of planning.
