Fuels: Fuel prices are falling – diesel is hardly cheaper than E10

The prices for petrol and diesel have fallen slightly again. However, the ADAC still sees scope for further reductions.

The rise in fuel prices has stopped, at least temporarily. Last week, the trip to the gas station was a little cheaper again, as the ADAC in Munich announced. A liter of E10 premium petrol cost 1.875 euros on a nationwide daily average on Tuesday. That was 2.6 cents less than seven days earlier. Diesel prices fell by 0.9 cents to 1.847 euros per liter.

Fuel prices – especially for diesel – have risen sharply in recent months. Now there was at least a breather for drivers. The reason is probably that the price of oil has not risen any further recently. The ADAC declared the current price decline to be overdue. The current level also offers scope for further reductions, the statement said.

The uneven decline in prices for diesel and E10 also led to the gap between the two types of fuel continuing to shrink. It is now only 2.8 cents per liter, although diesel is taxed around 20 cents lower according to the ADAC. The fuel is therefore usually a good 15 cents cheaper on average, even if it was temporarily more expensive than petrol last year due to the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
