Tesla research: Internet portal sues Dietmar Woidke

The transparency portal “FragDenStaat” accuses Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke of illegally keeping information about the Tesla factory in Grünheide under wraps.

The transparency portal “FragDenStaat” has filed a lawsuit against Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD). The operators accuse Woidke of illegally keeping information about the car manufacturer’s plant in Grünheide under wraps. The Potsdam Administrative Court confirmed receipt of the lawsuit.

In May of this year, the portal requested access to files on a task force from Woidke’s State Chancellery. According to the State Chancellery, representatives from all important ministries regularly meet with Tesla managers: at least 27 times since November 2019, as stated on the authority’s website. However, the public does not know what this group is discussing there.

Despite repeated requests, Woidke’s state government has not provided any information. Not even to journalists. According to the File Inspection and Access to Information Act (AIG), it is possible to request access to minutes of conversations and the like. Typically, such a request must be answered within one month.

The State Chancellery has responded to the portal several times since May and said the review is still ongoing. This is what emerges from emails sent to the star has seen. Aiko Kempen from “FragDenStaat” said this star: “The public has the right to know how a billion-dollar company influences the country.” If the Prime Minister does not fulfill his obligation to disclose, he must be forced to do so in court.
