In the most recent call for tenders – the deadline expired on Monday – not a single application was received, reported “The standard” on Thursday. The industry criticizes the low funding rate that the government has set. This delays the energy transition “drastic”said IG Windkraft managing director Stefan Moidl. Without the insurance, no one would build a facility.
Since last year, system operators have not received a fixed tariff for the electricity they feed into. Instead, they can offer an electricity price that they at least want to achieve with their system. If the price is above this value, there is no funding. However, if the price falls below the price listed in the tender, there is currently a maximum of 8.22 cents per kilowatt hour.
Costs for systems increased by 40 percent
However, the costs for the wind turbines and their construction have increased by 40 percent within two years. Therefore the funding is too low. The industry already called for an increase in funding in the spring. A report prepared by the Technical University and the University of Economics confirms that the industry is right: According to this, the subsidy must be increased to 9.28 cents per kilowatt hour, reported “The standard”.
However, there is no consensus in the government. While the Greens are in favor of increasing funding, the ÖVP rejects this “The standard”.
