The start of the Tesla factory seems like a flawless success story for the economy in Brandenburg. But reporters from star Investigatively, doubts arise: a team has to form its own opinion behind the goals. The new podcast “Inside Tesla”
Tesla is to Brandenburg as VW is to Wolfsburg – an economic gigaproject. It should bring jobs and thus prosperity for the region. Federal and state politicians around the Brandenburg Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke are rolling out the red carpet for Elon Musk.
star-Journalist Manka Heise and star-Journalist Christian Esser has been researching Tesla in Grünheide for more than three years. During their research, the reporters receive tips from insiders about questionable working conditions and frequent accidents in the factory. An internal emergency service list is sent to the two of them. It says that emergency services are apparently called to the Gigafactory several times a week, sometimes several times a day.
In order to check this, the team of reporters requests files from the responsible authorities, which take months to arrive. And Tesla itself does not respond to inquiries. What’s going on at Tesla?
